Club Abbey is a thoughtfully designed children’s café in Amsterdam’s Indische Buurt, combining relaxed dining with spacious, engaging play areas tailored for toddlers and young kids. Located on Linnaeusstraat, it functions not just as a spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, but as a practical hangout for parents looking to mix childcare with a comfortable meal or coffee.

The atmosphere leans into simplicity and warmth rather than loud distractions, making it well-suited for families who want a low-key environment where their children can explore safely. The play zones feel deliberately sized to avoid the usual overwhelming playground crowds, with plenty of room to move around and enough variety to keep little ones entertained for a couple of hours.

The café’s menu reflects a straightforward European breakfast and lunch offering, with items like avocado sandwiches topped with feta and pomegranate seeds, vegetarian croquettes, and sweet options such as croissants and banana bread. Portions and prices sit comfortably within local expectations, encouraging both quick bites and lingering mornings. Coffee and service receive positive nods; staff are approachable, helping to create a welcoming vibe especially for first-timers to children’s cafés.

Visits during late mornings through early afternoon seem optimal. It’s common to find the space less crowded right after opening, with a gradual build-up to peak times around midday or early afternoon. Returning visitors take advantage of a return pass system, allowing a flexible flow between play and neighborhood outings — a convenience appreciated by locals and travelers alike.

This spot particularly suits parents of very young children—toddlers up to preschool age—who value a clean, safe, and aesthetically calmer indoor playground paired with simple, wholesome food. The balance between play and café life here is more considered than in larger, noisier children’s play cafés, offering a neighborhood corner where families can settle in without feeling rushed or crowded. While the playful design is the main draw, the space could benefit from some caution around certain surfaces, as some parents have noticed slippery areas near the ball pit.

Overall, Club Abbey stands out as a community-minded spot where parents can catch up over coffee while keeping an eye on their kids, particularly during late mornings or weekend afternoons when the space feels most lively without tipping into busy or hectic.

We are visiting Amsterdam and were looking for somewhere fun to let our 13 month old play. Club Abbey was the perfect spot! We arrived for breakfast and play in the morning and then were able to return in the afternoon (just ask for a return pass on our way out) for some more play time after exploring the surrounding area. Our son had a great time playing and the area was so spacious, it never felt crowded. The staff were friendly and helpful!

I came in a midday Saturday, and was surprised that the place is not very crowded. I think more people come at around 1PM. Staffs are very friendly and I think the ambience is really nice. I don't have much experience with kids cafe, but I think Club Abbey has set a new standard for me.

Amazing place to spend some play time with your toddler! The play zones are made with a lot of love and care, so that the kids can play safely while parents can watch them and have a coffee. We’ve spent about two hours and it’s been a great experience! We‘ll be back!!

The place is very good and I also love the whole concept of the smaller and more aesthetic indoor playground than other ones. I just have to notice that the floor next to the bigger ball pool is really super slippery (I almost felt down a few times even though I already knew about it). It was also a bit busier than I would expect on the work day around 11am, but well - it's a new and really nice place :) Good luck!

Absolutely amazing place. My husband and I are from the UK and were in Amsterdam for a 3 day trip with our 11 month old daughter, and we visited Club Abbey every morning as we loved it so much. It’s bright and clean and the staff are really friendly. Most importantly, it had fantastic play areas that our daughter loved. It was great to have a place she could safely roam around and enjoy herself. We can’t believe that nobody has thought to open something similar in the UK!
